Morning Vinyasa

This morning I walked to my local  Lulu Lemon store that has complimentary yoga classes every Saturday at 9am.

I have always wanted to go, but just never made the time.   It was a great class with a fun routine.  The teachers switch out every week and this week was a teacher Myrita, from a hot yoga studio Moksha.    The class was challenging, but I was happy to be practicing on my very new Jade Yoga mat!

Its always surprising to me as a teacher on what I like about a class and what I dont.  I did like the postures, and the pace but I was a little disappointed with the pace of the teachers words and not allowing the students to have any thoughts for ourselves.  I did like the break down of savasana at the end, where we sat and collected our breath before moving into savasana.

Difficulty-  2.5 out of 5

Creativity of routine- 3 out of 5

Omifyed- 1 out of 5

Bliss- 2.5 out of 5

Where You Are

I have had the privilege of taking a short break between my semesters of school, and from an old job to a new job.  What a dream.  Two full weeks to have to myself.  Why did I not plan a vacation or a getaway!   Anyways, it is too late for that so I must make the most of finding new yoga classes, exploring my area of the MidWest and some good old fashion relaxing.

No complaints here.

This had led me to discover a new series of challenges for myself I’d like to call : Taking You Out of Where You Are, Where You are.

Which means, finding adventures, new journeys, and surrendering to wanderlust, right in your local town! Finding studios near by that you may have never taken a class from or a park you have never been too.   All to get the same feeling of a zest for life that we get when we travel to an unknown land.

When I think of enlightenment, or seeking a new adventure, I imagine a far away land, with new people and new experiences.   Really, all of this can be a the tip of our fingertips, and all we have to do is walk out of our house, or go across town to find it.

So this marks my new adventure series where I will be taking classes all around town and taking workshops all close by.

Sparing my wallet of a plane ticket, or filling my gas tank up.  Also indulging into my own surroundings to take me out of where I am in my body, mind and soul,  where I am in my own city.

Elephant Journal

An article that I wrote was published in the Elephant Journal!!

You can find it here- It is called Intimidation of Meditation

I find myself wanting to write more and more because I find it therapeutic to let my fingers to the speaking, also sometimes, I can type faster than I can talk. This article dives into how sometimes are are intimidated by the word “meditation”  like it is this big commitment and we have to dedicate 10 hours a day to it or something.   Really all it means is to find quiet and stillness in your life, and throughout your busy day. Even if it is for 5 minutes.

Read more  tips and helpful ways to get your practice started on the link above!

A little sneak peak into the studio where I started this journey.

Its a beautiful space, filled with magical energy and beautiful people day in and day out.

The statues are a reminder to keep a simple mind and to never judge, the decorations and meditation chairs create such great ambiance.

This amazing duo has been inspiring me to take my show on the road as well.

I would love to be able to travel and set up classes for me to teach while traveling to each different location around the world!  I know a few different people that do this, and have workshops set up, or classes scheduled in different studios, and its amazing!  The only difference is they are a wanted teacher. I dont think   I’m there yet, but I would love to do something similar to this video above : )

Thank you Ben and Lori for your awesome music/asana making talents!

They are coming to Cincinnati in September.  9/10 at Lululemon Hyde Park, you know you’ll see me there!

Closer to home

I started my first class yesterday at my studio that I was certified with, and also my first studio I found after moving here to Cincinnati, OH.

Here is the poster that was made by my web/ graphic designer boyfriend.  I love the flow of the waves in the background.

It was a great start to the morning.  There is really something special to a day when you start it out the right way, caring for and making time for yourself.

Great ways to wake up with a yoga zen feeling.

When you first wake up:

  • Stretch your arms above your head and take a deep breath in
  • Walk around while noticing your breath (if possible do this outside)
  • Find a quiet, peaceful, free of clutter, and bright place for you to be
  • Here you can: A) meditate B) practice a yoga sequence C) focus on your breath (pranayama)
  • Prepare yourself a healthy breakfast using fresh and bright colored fruit.
  • Drink a full glass of water

Your body will thank your for taking the time to allow it to wake up in the morning instead of your body working hard to keep up with your busy schedule set ahead.
